Dr. Hulda Clark identified heavy metals as one of the most dangerous classes of pollutants. These metals disrupt enzymatic and metabolic processes, suppress immunity, and foster environments conducive to parasite colonization.
Key heavy metals and their health effects
Dr. Clark highlighted mercury, lead, cadmium, nickel, aluminum, and titanium as the most toxic, while stressing that even trace elements essential in organic form, such as copper, iron, and selenium, become harmful in inorganic or oxidized forms of these metals:
- Blocks mineral absorption, interfering with enzyme activity.
- Trigger oxidative stress via free radical generation.
- Alter immune proteins, lipid membranes, and cellular organelles like mitochondria.
- Replace essential minerals (e.g., magnesium, zinc), inhibiting function without activating enzymes.
Linked diseases and symptoms
Heavy metals are associated with a wide range of disorders:
- Neurological and cognitive: Alzheimer’s (aluminum), multiple sclerosis (mercury), Parkinson’s (various), attention deficit, schizophrenia.
- Degenerative and chronic: cancer, sterility, nephropathy, chronic fatigue, immunodepression, infections resistant to antibiotics.
- Dermatological and metabolic: dermatosis, diabetes, obesity, ovarian diseases, and more

Sources of contamination
According to Dr. Clark, everyday sources include:
- Water: tap and even mineral water (especially near coasts) may contain lead, cadmium, aluminum, and mercury.
- Dental amalgams: primary source of mercury, thallium, and lanthanides.
- Cookware and utensils: especially those made with aluminum or metal alloys.
- Vaccines: due to mercury-containing preservatives (thiomersal).
- Cosmetics, tobacco, food packaging, and large fish (e.g., tuna, swordfish)
Relationship with parasites
Dr. Clark observed that heavy metals depress white blood cell function and also serve as biological cofactors for parasites and pathogens. Some metals are part of the enzymes used by bacteria and fungi. For instance, nickel is linked to yeast metabolism, and gold is used by salmonella and even hijacked by HIV and prions
