👉 Chanca piedra as a powerful alternative to black cherry
The kidney cleanse, according to Dr. Hulda Clark, includes black cherry concentrate and roots such as hydrangea, gravel root, and marshmallow. As mentioned in a previous section, black goji berry can be used as a substitute for black cherries. However, in South America, there is a native herb that is even more powerful in its action on kidney stones and urinary function: chanca piedra (Phyllanthus niruri).
Compared to black cherry, chanca piedra provides more direct and clinically proven effects in dissolving stones, preventing their recurrence, and relaxing the urinary tract. This superior therapeutic activity makes it the preferred choice when a more active and corrective kidney cleanse is desired.
Chanca piedra for dissolving stones and protecting the kidneys
Commonly known as “stone breaker,” chanca piedra has been used for centuries in traditional medicine for its ability to dissolve kidney stones, reduce inflammation, and improve urinary flow. Unlike black cherry, its effects have been well documented in clinical studies. Research has shown that it:
- Breaks down and dissolves calcium oxalate stones (the most common type in kidneys and urinary pathways).
- Reduces uric acid levels, helping prevent gout and urate stones.
- Protects kidney tissue from oxidative and inflammatory damage.
- Relaxes the muscles of the urinary tract, aiding the natural expulsion of stones.
- Has antibacterial effects, useful for mild urinary infections.
- Supports liver and digestive function, enhancing overall detoxification.
How to integrate chanca piedra into Dr. Clark’s protocol
Instead of black cherry concentrate, chanca piedra can be used within the same kidney cleanse program. It is ideal to keep all other original ingredients—such as the roots and magnesium—to preserve the therapeutic synergy designed by Dr. Clark.
It is recommended to take a standardized liquid extract of chanca piedra (30–40 drops diluted in water, twice daily) or a concentrated infusion prepared with 1 tablespoon of dried plant per cup of water, also taken twice daily. The complete cycle should last 2–3 weeks, accompanied by abundant daily hydration.
⚠️ Precautions
- Do not use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
- If taking antihypertensive or diuretic medications, consult your doctor.
- Do not exceed the recommended dose; mild drops in blood pressure may occur in sensitive individuals.
Should you change the entire protocol or just adapt it?
It is not necessary to change the full program. The best option is to adapt Dr. Hulda Clark’s kidney cleanse, keeping its original structure and replacing or complementing only the black cherry concentrate with chanca piedra.
1️⃣ Option 1 – Replace black cherry:
Instead of the 240 mL of black cherry concentrate, add chanca piedra as follows:
- Liquid extract: 30–40 drops in each cup of root infusion (3 times daily).
- Infusion: 1 tablespoon of dried herb in 1 cup of hot water, steep for 15 minutes. Use 180 mL per day (replacing the black cherry in the final mixture).
Add it right after boiling and straining the root mixture. Do not boil the chanca piedra.
2️⃣ Option 2 – Complement black cherry:
Keep the black cherry and add chanca piedra separately as an infusion or extract. This is ideal for those with a history of kidney stones.
- Take chanca piedra twice daily, morning and evening.
- You may add it to the glass containing the daily mixture (roots + parsley + goldenrod).
Specific changes in the daily protocol
Instead of:
- ¾ cup (180 mL) root mixture
- ½ cup (120 mL) parsley water
- 20 drops goldenrod tincture
Use:
- ¾ cup root mixture
- ½ cup parsley water
- 20 drops goldenrod tincture
- 30 drops chanca piedra extract or 60 mL strong infusion
Take in small doses throughout the day, as indicated by Dr. Hulda Clark.
