Chanca piedra is the common name for Phyllanthus niruri, a tropical plant from South America, especially the Amazon. Its name literally means “stone breaker,” reflecting its traditional use to support the elimination of kidney and gallstones.
What is it used for?
Traditionally, it is used to:
- Support the dissolution and expulsion of kidney stones
- Promote urinary flow
- Reduce irritation in the urinary tract
- Support liver function and bile flow
- Reduce spasms in the kidneys and biliary system
It contains lignans, flavonoids, and bitter compounds that act on the urinary and hepatobiliary systems.
How is it used?
- Infusion (traditional form)
- 1 tablespoon of dried plant per 1 liter of water
- Simmer gently for 10 minutes
- Let sit for 10 minutes and strain
- Take 1 cup, 2 to 3 times per day
- Typical duration: 2 to 3 weeks
- Capsules or extract
- 400 to 500 mg per capsule
- Take 2 times per day with meals
- Duration: 2 to 4 weeks depending on need
Always accompany with good hydration.
How it fits within Dr. Clark’s therapy
Within Dr. Clark’s therapy, chanca piedra does not replace the kidney cleanse or the liver cleanse, but can be used as support.
- During the kidney cleanse
- Helps facilitate the expulsion of crystals
- Relaxes ureteral spasms
- Improves urinary flow
It does not replace the kidney cleanse tea made from hydrangea, marshmallow, and other roots
- Between liver cleanses
- Supports bile flow
- Helps reduce the formation of new stones
- After metal removal
- Supports kidney and liver function
- Helps eliminate residues released after dental clean-up or metal mobilization
Considerations within Dr. Clark’s approach
Dr. Clark’s therapy follows a clear sequence:
- Remove parasites
- Open elimination pathways with the kidney cleanse
- Keep the liver free of obstruction
Chanca piedra serves as a complementary tool to support these phases, especially in cases with a tendency toward stone formation or urinary congestion. It does not replace the core protocols.
