Dr. Hulda Clark developed multiple methods to sanitize food effectively, reduce exposure to toxins, and eliminate microorganisms like parasites, bacteria, and viruses. These methods help prevent ingestion of pollutants like benzene, PCBs, and phenolic food allergens, and support immune recovery by reducing the body’s toxic burden. The most effective techniques include hydrochloric acid (HCl), Lugol’s iodine rinse, hot water washes, zappication, ozonation, and sonication.

Hydrochloric acid
Add 1 drop of 5% USP-grade HCl per cup of water and soak the produce. Agitate and let sit for a few minutes. Rinsing is optional since the solution is edible, but it should not be put directly into the mouth.
- For solid or particle-containing food, stir in 3 drops per cup using a non-metal utensil
- Do not exceed 15 drops per meal (preparation not included)
- HCl destroys parasite eggs, bacteria, benzene, and PCBs
- Also effective in eggs (3 drops each) and pepsin solution
Use only 5% concentration. Count the drops carefully. Avoid contact with metal surfaces to prevent staining.
Lugol’s rinse
Use 1 drop of Lugol’s iodine per quart or liter of water. Immerse leafy greens or produce for at least one minute. Rinsing is optional. Do not add Lugol’s directly to food on the plate or drinks, as it can reduce nutritional value and build up toxicity over time.
- Kills bacteria, viruses, yeast, and parasite stages
- Not effective against internal oncoviruses
- Avoid use in people with iodine allergies (typically from contrast dye exposure)
Dispose of water after use. Replenish the iodine solution if the color diminishes.
Hot water washes
Tap water at the maximum safe temperature is used to dissolve surface pollutants like PCBs, benzene, dyes, malonic acid, heavy metals, and industrial greases.
- Use a dedicated stainless-steel bowl for immersion
- After 1 minute, discard water and rinse produce
- Repeat 2 or 3 times for high-penetration foods (e.g. potatoes, carrots, tomatoes)
- Dried goods (beans, rice, grains, lentils) need 2 washes
- Discard waxed or pesticide-marked items

Zappication
Zappication uses a north-pole magnetic field and specific frequencies to sanitize food and improve its biochemical properties.
- Converts d-amino acids to the body-usable l-forms
- Kills most bacteria, viruses, and parasite eggs
- Destroys phenolic allergens and oxidizes benzene to phenol
- Alters polarization and makes food more tolerable
Duration: 10 minutes for most food, 15 minutes or more for eggs and dairy.

Ozonation
Ozone quickly sanitizes food and beverages and leaves no chemical residue, converting into oxygen and water.
- Kills bacteria and viruses in less than 10 minutes
- Destroys estrogens in dairy, azo dyes in meat, and food phenolics in 15–20 minutes
- Requires open containers or packaging inside plastic bags
- Avoid ozonating supplements, medicines, or herbs
After turning off the ozonator, food continues to benefit from ozone’s effect for roughly 10 more minutes. Immunocompromised individuals should ozonate all food.

Sonication
A sonicator (e.g., jewelry cleaner) vibrates food submerged in water. Use a plastic bag to immerse the food and run the device for 5 to 10 minutes.
- Destroys benzene and PCBs (oxidized to phenol and further degraded)
- Removes asbestos, molds, and mycotoxins
- Destroys viruses, parasites, prions, and bacteria, even inside packaging or bone
- Removes hypothalamus and pituitary residues in eggs and dairy (10 minutes)
Sonication cannot break down metals or most azo dyes. Extended sonication may reduce some phenolics but is not reliable for this purpose.
