Cytomegalovirus (CMV)

• Pathogenic activity: CMV replicates silently in tissues, especially in immunocompromised hosts. It causes chronic inflammation, disrupts cytokine signaling, and impairs white blood cell function.

CMV was frequently found in the organs of cancer patients and labeled by Clark as one of the most active oncoviruses. She also associated CMV with the erosion of the immune system, particularly affecting T-cell and thymus function. In vascular disease, she detected CMV in atheroma plaques along with other pathogens and solvents.

Health issues: Associated with cancer, meningitis, immune collapse, chronic fatigue, and vascular disease via atherogenic plaque buildup.
