Managing stomach over-acidification naturally

5 min read

This post is also available in: Español (Spanish)

Have you ever experienced that burning feeling in your chest, ongoing indigestion, or a sour taste in your mouth? While many immediately think of “acid reflux,” there is also hyperchlorhydria: the stomach producing too much acid. This isn’t just acid leaking out; it’s an imbalance in the strength or amount of stomach acid, which can affect digestion and long-term health.

What exactly is hyperchlorhydria? #

Hyperchlorhydria occurs when the stomach produces more hydrochloric acid than necessary for proper digestion. Stomach acid is essential for breaking down food, absorbing nutrients, and killing harmful bacteria and parasites. However, when this balance is disrupted, it can lead to discomfort and damage.

What causes this over-acidification? #

Dr. Clark emphasized that hidden toxins and parasites are central triggers for digestive disturbances. Contributing factors include:

  • Stress: Alters nervous system control over acid secretion.
  • Dietary irritants: Spicy foods, alcohol, caffeine, and commercial beverages often carry solvent and mold pollution that overstimulate acid.
  • Parasites and bacteria: H. pylori and other pathogens can invade when protective barriers are weakened, increasing acid problems.
  • Pollutants: Solvents such as propyl alcohol and other contaminants disturb normal digestion and allow parasites to thrive.
  • Medications and smoking: Add toxic burden, weakening protective tissues.

Recognizing the symptoms #

Over-acidification can show as:

  • Heartburn rising into the throat
  • Indigestion with bloating or nausea
  • Sour regurgitation
  • Burning stomach pain
  • Ulcers if acid erodes the lining

Finding balance the natural way #

According to Dr. Clark, balance comes not from suppressing acid but from restoring a clean internal environment. Her approach includes:

  • Parasite cleansing: Black walnut hull tincture, wormwood, and cloves eliminate hidden parasites that disturb digestion.
  • Zapping: The zapper neutralizes bacteria, viruses, and parasites that aggravate the stomach lining and acid secretion. Check the main pathogens and zapper frequencies below, or apply the standard zapper procedure.
  • Diet cleanup: Removing solvent-polluted foods and moldy grains is essential. White rice is safer than moldy brown rice; vitamin C is added during cereal cooking to detoxify mold. Dietary suggestions are listed in the following table.
  • Soothing support: Safe plant-based aids like slippery elm or alginate heal and protect the digestive lining. See full list below

The goal is not to eliminate stomach acid but to restore balance, protect tissues, and remove the true culprits: parasites, bacteria, and pollutants. With a clean body environment, the stomach’s natural acid regulation returns to normal.

Dietary Recommendations for Balancing Stomach Acidity #

Food Category/ItemHow to Best Include in Normal DietHow it Helps with Acid Levels
Alkaline Fruits
BananasSnack, smoothie, sliced on oatmealNaturally alkaline, can help neutralize acid and coat the stomach lining.
Melons (Cantaloupe, Honeydew, Watermelon)Snack, fruit salad, hydrating drinkHigh water content helps dilute acid; generally low in acidity.
Sweet Apples (e.g., Gala, Fuji)Snack, baked, stewed (peeled if sensitive)Contains pectin, which can soothe; generally less acidic than tart apples.
Alkaline Vegetables
Green Leafy Vegetables (Spinach, Kale, Lettuce)Salads, smoothies, lightly steamed, stir-friesLow in acid, rich in nutrients, can help balance pH.
Root Vegetables (Carrots, Potatoes, Sweet Potatoes, Beets)Baked, boiled, roasted, mashed, soupsGenerally alkaline, easy to digest, provide soothing fiber.
Cooked Cruciferous Vegetables (Broccoli, Cauliflower, Cabbage)Steamed, roasted, in soups/stews (cook thoroughly)Provide beneficial compounds and fiber; cooking reduces gas-producing potential.
FennelSliced raw in salads, roasted, in teasKnown for its soothing properties and ability to calm digestive upset.
Whole Grains
OatmealBreakfast cereal, overnight oatsHigh in soluble fiber, can absorb excess acid and form a protective layer.
Brown Rice, QuinoaSide dish, base for meals, in saladsEasy to digest, provide sustained energy without stimulating excess acid.
Whole-wheat Bread/Pasta (in moderation)As tolerated, in sandwiches, with mealsSource of fiber; choose varieties without added acidic ingredients.
Lean Proteins

Natural Supplements for Stomach Acid Balance #

SupplementSuggested Schedule & Dosage (General Guidance)How it Helps with Acid Levels & Digestion
DGL (Deglycyrrhizinated Licorice)Schedule: 20-30 minutes before meals, 2-3 times daily.
Dosage: 300-400 mg chewable tablet.
Stimulates the production of protective mucus in the stomach and esophagus, strengthening the mucosal lining against acid. Does not directly reduce acid.
Slippery Elm BarkSchedule: Between meals or before bed, 2-3 times daily.
Dosage: 1-2 grams of powder mixed with water, or 1-2 capsules.
Contains mucilage that forms a gel-like coating, soothing and protecting the irritated lining of the esophagus and stomach from acid.
Marshmallow RootSchedule: Between meals or before bed, 2-3 times daily.
Dosage: 1-2 grams as a tea (steeped in hot water) or in capsule form.
Similar to slippery elm, its mucilage content creates a protective barrier, reducing inflammation and shielding the digestive tract from acid.
Aloe Vera Juice (Decolorized/Purified)Schedule: 15-30 minutes before meals, 1-2 times daily.
Dosage: 2-4 fluid ounces (60-120 ml).
Known for its anti-inflammatory and soothing properties; helps calm irritation in the esophagus and stomach. Ensure it’s decolorized to avoid laxative effects.
Ginger (Extract/Capsules)Schedule: With meals, 1-2 times daily.
Dosage: 250-500 mg capsule or equivalent in extract.
Acts as an anti-inflammatory and digestive aid. Can help soothe the stomach and may assist with proper stomach emptying, reducing pressure.
