Causes
Glaucoma occurs when intraocular pressure (IOP) becomes elevated, compressing the delicate retinal cells and threatening vision. Dr. Hulda Clark identifies a key underlying cause as high blood pressure, which raises pressure throughout the body, including in the eyes. While conventional medicine often blames a narrow drainage tube in the eye, Dr. Clark suggests that the narrowing may be secondary to systemic hypertension. She also links elevated blood pressure, and by extension glaucoma, to caffeine consumption, cadmium toxicity from water pipes, and kidney dysfunction.
Symptoms
- Gradual vision loss
- Eye pressure (often without early symptoms)
- Visual field narrowing
Treatments
- Lower blood pressure:
- Eliminate caffeine (coffee, tea, sodas, even decaf).
- Investigate and eliminate cadmium exposure (e.g. galvanized pipes).
- Switch to PVC plumbing and test all plumbing sections.
- Remove all metal dental fillings if present.
- Cleanse the kidneys:
- Follow the kidney cleanse program to relieve pressure on adrenal-kidney systems and help regulate fluid balance and pressure.
- Monitor blood pressure:
- Ideal target: 120/80 mmHg.
- Readings above this—even if deemed “normal” by doctors—signal early dysfunction that should be corrected promptly to prevent glaucoma progression.
